On Friday 26th June, 2015 our club hosted the IFFA - River Fly Fishing International on a section of club waters from Athgarvan to just above Paddy's Well. 20 Anglers from 4 Countries qualified to fish.

The competition was set for four sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Each angler was accompanied by the steward provided by North Kildare Trout & Salmon (many thanks to the guys for their time)

After session 1, Team Ireland were ahead by three place points with three of the team finishing 1st. This trend continued into session 2.

The second two sessions were after lunch, many thanks to Sarsfields GAA for their hospitality.

Session 3 in the afternoon was always going to be tough as each beat had been fished hard that morning. Team Wales did best with Team England making ground on the leaders Ireland. It was all still to fish for going into the last 1 1/2 hour session. The Irish lads dug deep and finished 1st in the last session.

As Anglers, Stewards and Officials gathered in the Keadeen Hotel, whispers began to rumble of an Irish win. A few minutes later it was official, Team Ireland Winners 2015 River International on home soil.

Later at dinner in the Keadeen, it became apparent how well the Irish lads finished with one Angler in particular doing very well, Peter Doherty (Team Captain) was the man of the day finishing top rod and collecting the Moc Morgan Trophy. Peter is on the committee of North Kildare.

After dinner Team Ireland were presented with the Geoff Clarkson Trophy and the room erupted to a standing round of applause for a job well done. Drinks and craic followed into the early hours. Everyone agreed this was a very well organised event. North Kildare would like to thank, Secretary John Higgins for all the months of hard work to run this competition.

A special word of thanks to all our Sponsors and Reparian owners. And a big well done to all stewards for their time and hard work. Without them events like these would not go ahead.
